Join author Shelina Janmohamed as we investigate history’s influence on our modern world, and how the experiences of children from hundreds of years ago impact the way we live today. Part of our new family event series Telling Tales.

Leaping through time, we’ll explore an eclectic range of topics like the influence of kings and queens, the dangerous jobs children had, and what our Shakespearean personalities might have been.

We’ll also hear from Shelina about how she started writing, the ideas that shape her work, and why stories matter so much to everyone.

Shelina is the author of books including Story of Now: Why We Need to Talk About the British Empire, exploring the far-reaching impact of the British Empire through young people’s lives then and now, and The Extraordinary Life of Serena Williams, profiling the challenges a female champion overcame.
