Shakespeare’s Richard III unfolds in the Globe Theatre this summer, in a ‘hugely compelling’ ★★★★ (The Guardian) and ‘vibrant’ ★★★★ (The Telegraph) new production exploring modern tyranny afresh.
Following generations of fighting, a fragile peace has been established, but Richard’s self-serving manipulation, disruption and ambition for the crown threatens the lives of everyone around him.
Queens, mothers and wives – grieving and angry – find solace in sisterhood and turn to curses for their revenge.
Can the factions resolve their inherited conflicts before the whole country is deceived and destroyed?
Following 2023’s ★★★★ ‘riveting’ (The Telegraph) A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Director Elle While returns to explore the enduring allure and charisma of evil.
‘True hope is swift, and flies with swallow’s wings;
Kings it makes gods, and meaner creatures kings.’
– Act V, scene 2
