Explore the performance potential of the iconic open-air Globe Theatre, and what it teaches the actor about understanding and performing Shakespeare, in this intensive three-day course. Through a raw, stripped-back approach, you’ll uncover the essential tools and techniques needed to navigate Shakespeare’s complex texts with confidence. Designed to help you command large, dynamic spaces, this program provides a strong, adaptable foundation, empowering you to bring Shakespeare’s works to life in any setting.
Led by a member of our expert faculty, you’ll work alongside other actors and use rehearsal tools, games, and exercises to explore the potential of the wooden ‘O’ as a performance space.
The course will involve acting, voice, movement, and text sessions, as well as a Q&A with an actor who has worked on our stage. Time is split between the Globe stage itself, and one of our purpose-built studios. Please note that due to working in a live theatre, some stage sessions may be required to run with set in place from our current productions.
Playing the Globe is suitable for those who are new to working with Shakespeare, and for those with previous experience, and will provide a safe and supportive space to explore, play, and connect creatively.
Playing the Globe: 3 Day Course is only available to registered members of The Studio at Shakespeare’s Globe community. Log in to book or find out more about joining The Studio at Shakespeare’s Globe.
