How to watch our free Globe Player films
Join us for Shakespeare filled movie nights from Monday 6 April at 7.00pm on YouTube
Experience the magic of the wooden O from the comfort of your very own home as we release six of our Globe Player films for free over the next couple of months.
From Monday 6 April at 7.00pm on YouTube, you’ll be able see some of our much-loved productions from Shakespeare’s most famous stage.
Hamlet (2018), Romeo and Juliet (2009), The Two Noble Kinsmen (2018) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2013), plus two previously unreleased titles The Winter’s Tale (2018) and The Merry Wives of Windsor (2019), will all be available for free, one on rotation every two weeks.
How do I watch the films?
Each film will be streamed for free on our YouTube channel: subscribe now and set yourself a reminder to ensure you don’t miss out. Films will be available on demand from the date of their release for 14 days.
You can view YouTube on a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and most Smart TVs have a YouTube app.
All six films will have English subtitles. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer audio-description services, but we will have audio notes available from VocalEyes.

Hamlet
(2018)
Streaming from Monday 6 April, 7.00pm. Available until Sunday 19 April.
The Globe Ensemble, including Artistic Director Michelle Terry, bring to life Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy, Hamlet, in the Globe Theatre.
Encompassing political intrigue and sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, tragic depth and wild humour, Hamlet is a colossus in the story of the English language and the fullest expression of Shakespeare’s genius.

Romeo and Juliet
(2009)
Streaming from Monday 20 April, 7.00pm. Available until Sunday 3 May.
Dominic Dromgoole’s production brings refreshing clarity to one of Shakespeare’s most famous and best-loved tragedies, drawing out the contemporary relevance of this passionate teenage love story.
Ellie Kendrick, a truly youthful Juliet, and Adetomiwa Edun, a boyish Romeo, head an excellent cast whose period costumes point to the timelessness of parental disapproval, adolescent temperament, rivalry and violence.

The Two Noble Kinsmen
(2018)
Streaming from Monday 4 May, 7.00pm. Available until Sunday 17 May.
Inspired by the play’s Morris language and references, The Two Noble Kinsmen is set in a pastoral ‘Merrie England’.
Shakespeare and Fletcher’s tragicomedy is brought to life by former Northern Broadside’s Artistic Director, Barrie Rutter, with original music composed by acclaimed folk musician Eliza Carthy, and dance choreographed by Ewan Wardrop.

The Merry Wives of Windsor

The Merry Wives of Windsor is the only comedy that Shakespeare set in his native land. This production draws influences from British 1930s fashion, music and dance, and with its witty mix of verbal and physical humour, rejoices in a tradition that reaches right down to the contemporary English sitcom.
Directed by Elle White, this production stars Olivier Award-nominated Bryony Hannah as Mistress Ford, Sarah Finigan as Mistress Page and Pearce Quigley as Falstaff. The Windsor Locals appear courtesy of Soldiers’ Arts Academy, London Bubble and Clean Break.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Dominic Dromgoole directs Michelle Terry and John Light as fairy royalty in a Renaissance staging of this much-loved comedy.
