Malik Work

Actor-writer-musician Malik Work is a founding member of The Real Live Show, a groundbreaking music conglomerate known for bringing the NYC jazz and hip hop communities together for albums, events, and projects that transformed the culture of both. He’s written and performed a hip hop musical called Verses @ Work, a one-man show that toured with the Public Theater, and has garnered him a nomination for Best Solo Performance at the AUDELCO Awards. The film version of Verses.. that Malik wrote, starred in and executive produced was distinguished by the Hip Hop Film Festival, the Harlem International Film Festival, and won the International Spotlight Award at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival. His most recent network television acting credits are Broad City and Blacklist: Redemption. He has also been the commercial voice of various brands, from HBO Boxing to Fiber One Chocolate Cereal, and more.  Malik is currently the voice of Planet Word, an immersive museum of the English language in Washington D.C. An accomplished writer, performer, student, and champion of verse, he’s composed and performed poetry for Webby Award-winning project People Not Property with Historic Hudson Valley, and is currently the central artist in Preservation Long Island’s Jupiter Hammon Project. Malik teaches acting, writing, theater arts, hip hop, beatmaking, and hip hop theater around the world. His hip hop Shakespeare workshop was recently presented by the Folger Shakespeare Library.
