Lady Macbeth

Stylised white letters 'LM' on a black background

Lady Macbeth is strong, ruthless, and ambitious.

It is she who proposes the murder of Duncan to Macbeth, in order to make the witches’ prophecy come true; a pivotal moment that sets the tragic events in motion. Seemingly more strong-willed than Macbeth, she aids her husband in overcoming his fear after the deed is done and assists in the cover-up. However, as Macbeth becomes more accustomed to his role as a tyrant following Duncan’s murder, Lady Macbeth’s guilt becomes increasingly unbearable.

She goes mad and finally kills herself.
