Amy Trigg
Amy Trigg is an actor and writer from Essex. She was the first wheelchair user to graduate from a performance course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Her acting credits include work with the RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe, BBC, Netflix and Universal.
Her debut play ‘Reasons You Should(n’t) Love Me’ was joint winner of the inaugural Women’s Prize for Playwriting 2020. It had its world premiere at the Kiln Theatre, London in May 2021 before returning to the Kiln in Autumn 2022 after a tour. The play is also available on Audible. Amy’s short play ‘It’s Not Like It’s Illegal’ was performed at Theatre Royal Stratford East in May 2022. She was writer in residence at the Kiln Theatre, after winning one of six 2022 Playwrights’ Scheme Bursaries.
Amy was a writer on ‘Ralph and Katie‘ (a spin off to the popular BBC/ITV Studios show ‘The A Word’) for ITV Studios/BBC. She has co-written episode 3 of the upcoming Netflix drama ‘Toxic Town’ alongside Jack Thorne. Amy has original projects in development with ITV Studios, Red Production Company, Little Door, The Forge and Two Rivers Media. Writers’ rooms include work for CBeebies and The Bureau. Her debut radio play ‘The A-Z of Things: A is for Award’ for BBC Radio 3 was broadcast in 2022. She has been part of BBC TV Drama Writers’ Programme 2021 (partnered with Eleven), 4Screenwriting 2021, BBC Drama Room 2020/21, BBC Writers’ Access Group 2020/21, the Royal Court Introduction to Playwriting Group 2020/21 and BBC Children’s New Voices 2020.
Amy’s essay ‘An Ode to Improv (and Poehler and Fey)’ features in the book ‘Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (and other lies)’, curated by Scarlett Curtis and published by Penguin. Amy has also been a regular guest writer for Access Magazine. She won ‘Colchester New Comedian of the Year 2016’ for her one-woman sketch ‘The Rebrand’.
